Jožka Baruch: Toy Bird-whistle - detail of advertisement
Licensed replica: Jožka Baruch: Toy Bird-whistle
Czechoslovakia 1920s, shop@modernista.cz
Baruch's wide range of artistic imagination led him to create small decorative objects and to shape toys. The bird-whistle is a unique toy with many uses. Folk toys and motifs became an important inspiration, and by combining them with geometric carved ornamentation or bright polychromy with detailed decoration, they were the Czechoslovakian answer to the fashion for polychromed rusticated artefacts of the international art deco movement in the 1920s.
